Corn Fest

Corn Fest     August 24, 2013

Last night I took the girls to Taber Corn Fest. Ben couldn't come because he had a year end golf BBQ so it was just us girls. Hannah was brave enough to go on some rides this year, so it was fun to watch the girls together.
Hannah's duck pond prize ( funny how you never pick a duck saying medium or large
prize, only small)

 Saidey loved the rides
 A bit nervous at first

Camping at Enchant

August 21,  2013      Camping At Enchant

On Monday August the 12th we went camping at Enchant for three nights. The weather was amazing, very hot! We went with my mom, Keshia and her 2 boys, and Amber. Our girls loved it!
Two days before we left for camp we found a super deal on a camp trailer so after Ben was done work we went to check it out and loved it. It even has a bathtub! The best part about it though was the fridge/freezer, it makes camping so easy and I always hated throwing money away to buy ice to keep our coolers cold! We tried tenting our other camping trips this year it works, but its nicer to be up off the ground, and the girls fall asleep much faster in the trailer, I think maybe because the late 70's décor in our trailer keeps it nice and dark :)
These two were best buds, and thought they were super cool with their sunglasses ( Hannah loves hers upside down)

It was a very relaxing camping trip. The kids played so nice. It is such a nice campground and the fountains in the lake keep the water clean.

Camping Trip

Camping Trip   July 23, 2013

On Friday July 12 we started our Holiday to BC.  After Ben got home from work we drove to Golden BC and got a hotel. It took us awhile to find one that had a vacancy but was still clean and comfy!

The next morning we dove to The Enchanted Castle near Revelstoke BC. The girls loved it and there was a lot of interesting things to see for Ben and I also. So many cute little fairy tale characters to see. We took a lot of pictures.

After we spent a few hours at the Enchanted Castle we drove for about two hours until we got to Vernon. The girls an I ( mostly me) we getting tired of driving and very hungry so we stopped for Lupper. ( Note for next years trip, pack more food for the drive!) Then we found a campground called Dutch's Campground in Vernon right beside a creek. The beach was only a 10 minute walk from the campground through town and the lake was warm and clean with a sandy beach.
The girls were so excited that there were ducks living in the creek flowing right behind our tent! We camped there Saturday and Sunday night and Vernon Canadian Reformed Church was only a ten minute drive from the campground so that worked out well.

Pickin Peas

Pickin Peas   July 11 2013

Snack time

Our favorite chicken, Mia

Our garden is crazy this year. We palnted a row of snow peas for the first time this year and it is one of the girls favorite snacks. They love to stand in the garden snacking on peas. This is also the first year our strawberry plants are actually growing strawberrys so that is exciting.

From Sea Otter To Salamander

From Sea Otter to Salamander    June 7, 2013

On to level two

From July 1st to July 5th Saidey had swimming lessons every day for half an hour. Her class was quite big with 8 kids total but I think she learns better doing something every day rather than spread out over 7 weeks. We are excited she passed level one and next summer she will be a Salamander in level two.

An Egg!

An Egg!   June 9  2013

Yesterday we went with Leanne Van Kammen and her girls to get 3 laying hens. There were over 60 chickens! It was like being at a chicken zoo, the lady had so may different beautiful breeds.
Ben fixed the chicken run with stronger wire so we are hoping these chickens will be safe. We put them with our 3 chicks and they are all getting along. Last night Saidey went to look at the chickens and was very excited to find an egg! Our first egg!

Our Pre School Girl

Our Pre School Girl    May 31, 2013

Today was a big day for Saidey! She had Pre School Orientation. Ben and I had decided not to send Saidey to pre school but after talking to Saideys Speech Therapy teacher again we changed our minds. So we registered her Monday and today she got to go see what it was all about. I'm kind of glad it all happened so fast so I couldn't change my mind!
We are hoping that pre school will help her slow down and pronounce her words clearer, and I am sure it will benefit her in so many other ways as well. Hannah and I will  miss her like crazy! ( But Hannah does seem to love evenings when Saidey hasn't napped and so Saidey is the first to go to bed! It is fun to listen to her talk and watch her play without Saidey because she definetly spends most of her day copying her big sister!)
The fact that Saidey is going to pre school is huge for me! A year ago there was no way I could even consider it! Ever since Saidey was born 4 and a half years ago I have become sickness germaphobe ! I think it started when we had to be so, so careful in the NICU sanitizing our hands, and even when we got to take her home after 6 weeks her pediatrician still said we needed to keep her out of the church nursery and away from sick kids. When Saidey did somehow manage to catch a tummy bug she ended up in the hospital due to dehydration twice in one year. This was scary and just made my phobia worse. Thankfully Saidey can now deal with tummy bugs no problem and is a superstar cold fighter! Being Saideys mom has made me a stronger person, and looking back I wouldn't want it any other way! I am so thankful to God for taking my phobia away! It took 4 years and daily prayers. I am also thankful that Ben was so patient. Ben loves people, so having a germaphobe wife was super hard for him! It was so easy for me to just keep Saidey at home away from all the germs and we definetly stayed home a lot more that Ben would have liked. I still don't like it when my girls get sick but I know its good for them and while many people would still consider me a sickness germaphobe I am very excited at how much better I've gotten!

Saidey four and a half years ago! Proof that there can be miracles if you believe!

Saidey today after Pre School Orientation! Happy and Healthy!
